Pom Poms & Painting Nails

On Tuesday, my mom painted Michayla, and yes, Elijah's nails too. In order to save the baby boys from this predicament I kept them busy with putting pom poms in a water bottle. I'm sorry Kevin and Lesley, I couldn't stop grandma from painting Elijah's. I told her just the toes, since he wanted to do what his sister was doing but Grandma said his hands are fine too, since he is just a kid.

At least his toenails look rugged, even with nail polish.

Hurst Cousins (Part One)

Three of Titus' cousins came to stay with us for a couple weeks. My sister Lesley and her husband went overseas to Germany, so we had Michayla, Elijah and Caleb with us. We took lots and lots of pictures!!! I plan on posting them all over the next week or so.

My mom spent the night at our place the night of June 7th, and flew out the morning of the 8th to Lesley's house in Pennsylvania. She helped with the driving and entertaining the kids. They arrived here on 9th around 8pm. This first post will be from June 10th until Lesley left on June 12th.

My step-dad, Larry, came and spent the night in order to see Lesley while she was in town on the 9th also. He had to leave early on the 10th, so we had breakfast out on the back patio with him.

Titus took to Michayla right away.

Michayla absolutely loved having her picture taken and was so proud of the puzzle she had completed on her own. The rest of these pictures were taken on Monday the 11th of June.

Another "project" I had the older two kids work on was stringing a cutup pool noodle onto ribbon. They thought the finished product made a great jump rope.

I don't know what most kids do when they have been tackled, but Titus laughs hysterically. He has done this since he was a baby.

We ended our time with Lesley by enjoying S'mores from the microwave after dinner. She left early on Tuesday morning to head back to PA for their trip. The kids were all ours.

18 Month Doctor's Appt.

Titus will be 19 months on Sunday, but his appointments are off a month because of our move. Yesterday he had his appointment and these are his current stats:

27.4 lbs.
34 1/2" long

He has consistently been in the 50% for weight. He went from being in the 75% for height to the 98% percentile. The doctor said if he continues at the same rate, he will be as tall as daddy (6' 2").

His vocabulary and height are that of a 2-year old. Doctor said he was one smart boy. Every parent likes to hear that. :)

From his 15 month appointment to his 18 month appointment he has added:

1.4 lbs to his weight

Apparently he lost a half inch. Hmmm, well that doesn't make an ounce of sense.

Feeding Zoey (the dog)

Titus has chores. He gets help with them and he loves doing them. One of those chores is feeding Zoey (the dog). He needs help scooping the food into the measuring cup, but dumps the food into her bowl himself. If the pieces don't make it into the bowl, he picks them up one by one and puts them in there for her.

Cool Whip

We got out the Cool Whip and a Cookie Cutter. My kid has this thing about his hands getting messy. He's not a big fan. Word has it that his mom is the same way and I have been since I was a child. Is it hereditary? He did find another way to get his hands clean, since his mom refused to clean them right away.

Nope, still no furniture upstairs. We were suppose to get it at the end of May, but now they are telling us mid-June.

Sentences?

On Saturday morning, before we left for our friend's house Titus had a first. Now I could have just been hearing things and it was babbled, but Titus said two sentences.

Titus was in our bedroom. He came out and said, "Where'd you go?" The word "go" was clear and the rest was kind of babbled.

He came to me and handed me my tweezers and he said, "What do these do?" Once again, the word "do" was very clear, but the rest was babbled. Maybe all this screaming that has been going on lately is because he is in the process of having a breakthrough with his verbal skills. Who knows?

Television

Titus has this intense interest in music. We've tried other cartoons with Titus in the van and only the group Hi-5 does the trick. For those of you who do not know who they are, they are a group of 5 teenagers that do skits with lots of music involved. Titus will be playing downstairs with the tv on and as soon as music comes on his head bobs up over the couch to see what is going on. He loves his two guitars, even though one doesn't work and the other one sounds like it is dying a slow death. He sings into my beaters (see 2nd post on May 29th). He constantly has two items in his hands (sticks, drumsticks, beaters, paintbrushes, spatulas, etc.) and is banging on things. He will be really cranky and as soon as I turn the radio on his attitude makes an 180 degree turn. Will he have the Sjostrand musical talent as he grows up? We shall see.

These are pictures of him watching, "The Band Perry," on television, playing during "NBC's Today Show." He's not aware of anything else going on around him.
